Information for Veterans

More than one American in ten is a veteran, and over one million women are veterans. Over 70% of all veterans are over the age of 50. In 20 years, the number of veterans over the age of 75 will triple.

Homelessness is a problem among veterans. Male veterans are 1.3 times more likely to become homeless, and female veterans are 3.6 times more likely to become homeless than non-veteran females.

State and Federal agencies manage most programs for veterans. These programs typically use Veterans Administration rules to decide program eligibility. The current VA benefits and eligibility manual is available on the Veterans Administration website.
