Information for People with Disabilities

Creating communities with diverse populations enriches the lives of everyone.  Accessible and affordable housing for people with disabilities is critical to preserving that balance.  History has often shown that people with disabilities contribute well to business, government, culture and the arts, and every other facet of society.  Neighborhoods can benefit as well from their many contributions.

While most people prefer to live independently in their homes, this is not always easy for the disabled. People with disabilities often have difficulty finding accessible housing, particularly those with lower incomes.

Many public, private and nonprofit agencies provide services to help individuals find acceptable housing. These organizations also offer other services for the disabled that allow them to live a more fulfilling and independent life.
