Finding a Mortgage Lender

Home loans are available from several types of lenders such as commercial banks, mortgage companies, and credit unions. Different lenders may offer different types of mortgages, terms, origination costs and interest rates prices. You should contact several lenders to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

So, how do you find a mortgage lender? Your realtor or broker typically works with several mortgage lending institutions. They can recommend one or more lenders to you based on your particular needs and circumstances.  Be aware that real estate brokers are not obligated to find the best deal for you unless they have contracted with you to act as your agent.

Many organizations or agencies make available online searches to help in finding a mortgage lender.  Often these online searches include only mortgage lenders that specialize in a particular mortgage product such as FHA loans.  In other cases the lenders  have committed to follow specific mortgage lending policies.
