Public Housing Agencies
Website Tools
Public Housing Agencies receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to build and manage low-rent public housing, and to run the housing choice (Section 8) voucher program.
Vouchers: Vouchers, or Housing Choice Vouchers, allow low-income families to lease, or sometimes buy, decent, safe and affordable privately owned rental housing. (Find out more about Housing Choice Vouchers...)
Low-Rent: Low-rent or public ousing units are owned by a housing agency. The housing agency leases these units directly to qualifying low-income individuals and families. (Find out more about low-rent Public Housing...)
To apply for public housing or a housing choice voucher, contact a public housing agency below. The demand for both public housing and vouchers is far greater than the number of units available. Most housing agencies have long waiting lists, and only occasionally accept new applications for housing.
