Get Help With Rent

Are you having trouble finding an apartment because you can't afford the monthly rent? Is the deposit for an apartment more than you can afford? Are you in danger of being evicted because you can't pay your rent? If so, there are programs and organizations that can help.

Emergency or short-term help with your rent can get you through those unexpected budget problems that sometimes come up. If you cannot find a place to live that you can afford, you should explore the long-term or assisted rent programs.

Assisted Rent Programs (long-term)

Many Public Housing Authories provide affordable apartments for low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. To apply, contact a local public housing agency.

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) lets you find your own place and use the voucher to help pay the rent. To apply, contact a local public housing agency.

In addition, government agencies provide funds to privately-owned apartments to make low cost rental units available to lower income individuals and families. You can search for assisted rental housing online.
